World AIDS Day A life-long disease that is transmitted by sex childbirth or infected needles

The Health Ministry says in a news release on Sunday, World AIDS Day (Dec. 1), that there were 208 new cases of the virus in 2018, a steady decline from 437 cases in 2004. She said in the fight against the disease, things have gotten better.

The study estimates that only Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland, Uganda and Zimbabwe will be able to achieve a 95% reduction in new infections among adolescents and young people by 2050.

For many years, Criselda has been an HIV/AIDS ambassador. Out of those, about 1,300 are likely undiagnosed.

Chapman added it can be hard to talk about HIV/AIDS because of stigma around the disease.

"Today on #WorldAIDSDay, I also look to two of my favourite people @eltonjohn and @davidfurnish and the incredible work that @ejaf does to test, treat and support people living with HIV all over the world", she shared.

Furthermore, data show that population of adolescents and young people aged 15 to 24 living in sub-Saharan Africa will nearly double by 2050, whereas it will decline or remain stable in every other region of the world.

Chapman and Guinn both said they want people to know HIV/AIDS is still an issue, but it is manageable and possible to prevent.

Cape Town - The number of people living with HIV in the Western Cape is estimated at 8.9%, with the adoption and implementation of the UNAids 90-90-90 Strategy having strengthened the focus on HIV testing and treatment. This can help people decide to take preventive measures or seek treatment if they are HIV positive.

"Our government is committed to advancing the fight against this disease as we increase support for communities and people affected, " Premier John Horgan says in a statement. The cumulative number of people living with HIV who have died are 650 - pre ART: 215 and on ART 435. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.
