Rep. Nunes sues CNN for $435 million over Ukraine story

Nunes Launches $435 Million Lawsuit Against CNN Over Ukraine Story

Parnas, along with Igor Fruman, is accused of helping Giuliani ask Ukraine to investigate Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden and his son Hunter ahead of the 2020 election.

According to the November 22 story, the attorney for Lev Parnas, Joseph A. Bondy, claimed that his client was willing to testify to Congress that Nunes was in Vienna previous year to discuss "digging up dirt" on Joe Biden with a former Ukranian prosecutor.

He's suing over a November 22 report that Lev Parnas, the indicted associate of Rudy Giuliani, was prepared to tell Congress that Nunes met with Victor Shokin, the former Ukrainian prosecutor, in Vienna previous year to discuss "digging up dirt" on Joe Biden.

The Washington Times first reported on the lawsuit Tuesday, quoting the complaint as saying "Devin Nunes has never met Viktor Shokin".

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) passed up few opportunities to bash the media in the recent impeachment hearings, and now he's suing what he calls the "mother of fake news" CNN.

During an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity on Tuesday evening, Nunes outlined his latest $400 million-plus lawsuit against CNN for publishing a story about his December 2018 meeting with the ex-Ukrainian prosecutor at the heart of the efforts to push Ukraine to probe Trump's political rival. However, Nunes also said he does not remember any conversation with Parnas that he may have had.

CNN's report did not independently verify or disprove Bondy's claims.

A network legal analyst, who often bends to parrot Nunes conspiracies during his appearances on the show, gave the lawmaker further cover by daring to suggest that, perhaps, it wasn't even Nunes on those crucially timed phone calls.

"From all the evidence in its possession, CNN was well-aware that Parnas was a renowned liar, a fraudster, a hustler, an opportunist with delusions of grandeur, a man in financial in extremis", the lawsuit says. "It must be held accountable", according to court documents. Nunes responded, "I don't talk to you in this lifetime or the next lifetime".

The same Parnas attorney, Joseph Bondy, who CNN cited as its source, publicly called out Nunes on Tuesday after Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee - on which Nunes is the ranking member - released phone records along with its impeachment report on President Trump showing Nunes spoke with Parnas a number of times.
