Sub Lt Shivangi 24 has made history- she is the first woman pilot of the Indian Navy

Sub Lieutenant Shivangi on Monday became the first woman pilot in the Indian Navy after she successfully graduated from her course.

"You don't need to be super talented to fly an aircraft, but you need to work really hard and stay focused", she says.

Shivangi was born in the city of Muzaffarpur in Bihar. I have been craving for this since a very long time and finally it's here. It is a great feeling, she said.

Sub Lieutenant Shivangi has created history today.

Twitterati also posted pictures of the ceremony held to induct the young woman at the naval base. She was commissioned into the Navy in June a year ago. "Best wishes to her for a successful career".

The Navy will have its first woman pilot trained by Navy to make first cockpit entry on 2 December, the source said without elaborating.

The award of the "wings" marks the culmination of one year of flying training at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, and Indian Naval Air Squadron (INAS) 550, INS Garuda in Kochi. Operational training will begin.

From here on, these pilots would join the Dornier Operational Flying Training course at INAS 550 from mid- January 2020, prior to joining an operational maritime reconnaissance squadron.
