Woody Allen and Amazon end legal battle

Woody Allen & Amazon Reach Settlement In $68M Lawsuit From ‘Manhattan’ Director

Fox News Flash top entertainment and celebrity headlines for November 10 are here.

Amazon canceled the released of Allen's 2018 film, A Wet Working day In New York citing controversial opinions Allen made about Harvey Weinstein as well as allegations directed to Allen himself.

Back in February, Allen filed the massive lawsuit against Amazon Studios for allegedly backing out of a multi-film deal - including the shelving of his completed comedy A Rainy Day in NY - due to reports of alleged sexual abuse by the Oscar-winning filmmaker. Sources previously claimed the film contained an adult-teen sex scene. His daughter, Dylan Farrow, has claimed she was raped by Allen at the age of 7.

Amazon had responded that Allen, whose daughter Dylan has accused him of molesting her when she was a girl, breached the 4-movie deal by making insensitive remarks about the #MeToo movement.

Allen's attorneys and lawyers for Amazon filed a joint notice dismissing the case on Friday night.

Amazon countered in court papers that Allen's comments related to the #MeToo movement, which began in late 2017, ensured that the company could never receive the expected benefits from its contract with Allen, justifying its decision to end their relationship.

Klieger said that Allen's remarks hurt the project, which starred Timothée Chalamet, Selena Gomez, Elle Fanning, Jude Law and Rebecca Hall, and made the film too hard to promote.

Allen said Amazon had canceled the deal because of a "25-year-old baseless allegation".

Many actors have distanced themselves from director Woody Allen.

A Rainy Day in NY was released this fall outside the United States by his production company Gravier Productions.
