What other Senate candidates said about Sessions joining race

Jeff Sessions Expected To Announce Run For His Old Senate Seat

The announcement came a year after President Donald Trump fired Sessions from his dream job, and their relationship will now be a determining factor in the race.

Sessions' decision to recuse himself from the federal investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 USA presidential election paved the way for the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

"As everyone knows, President Trump and I have had our ups and downs".

Sessions referenced his endorsement of Trump in his Thursday night video.

Despite the falling out during his time at the White House, he has praised the president for doing great things for America.

President Trump has widely ridiculed Mr Sessions since forcing him out of office, and is expected to support an opponent to his former ally. "No.", said Sessions in a statement announcing his run.

Kent also said that Fiona Hill, Trump's former top adviser on Russian Federation, revealed that she was concerned about U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland's ability to tell the truth about what he talked about with the president.

Mr Sessions was the first USA senator to endorse Mr Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. The ad quotes Trump calling Sessions an "embarrassment to Alabama" and a "total disaster".

"Jeff Sessions returning to the Senate is a bad idea", Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida tweeted Wednesday.

"When President Trump took on Washington, only one Senator out of a hundred had the courage to stand with him: me".

Jones was the first Democrat to be elected USA senator in Alabama since the late Sen.

As of this writing, Trump does not yet appear to have commented on the candidacy of Sessions.

"Jeff Sessions is a friend".

"And I'll tell you why", Sessions continued. "The problem, as I've pointed out to him, is I think your life is going to be very hard unless you work out some sort of reconciliation with the president". Additional candidates include Rep. Bradley Byrne, Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, state Rep. Arnold Mooney and Roy Moore, the former judge who previously lost the special election to Jones in 2017 amid allegations of sexual misconduct towards underage teens.

"I've been a Republican all my life", Brown said.

During a Thursday interview, sitting Alabama Democrat Senator Doug Jones said he's not making much of Sessions' intent to run for his seat yet.

Sessions said he hoped he has Trump's support in his Senate run.
