Snow is returning to Northeast Ohio this week

Air from Siberia to send temperatures plunging from Texas to New England

After a cold and windy day Wednesday, with a high near 31 and a low near 19, snow could return Thursday, as temperatures fall from an expected high near 36 to an overnight low about 29, according to forecasters.

This mixing of the cold air and precipitation will result in a round of snow overnight. That means they could see more of a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain, which would cut down on their snowfall totals.

The National Weather Service reported that Trenton hit 19 degrees early Saturday, crushing the November 9, 2003, record of 24 degrees. The Worcester area also has a chance of light snow Tuesday night with temperatures reaching around 15 degrees that night.

Otherwise, the main focus shifts to the colder air that will filter in, possibly even breaking some records.

Temperatures will moderate through the second half of the week, but we will remain colder than normal for at least the next 10 days.

Snow will taper off after sunset Sunday, and skies will clear. Light amounts of snow are expected in these areas with minor disruption to commerce.

Snow will start to come to an end by early evening (northwest) and by midnight (southeast). Snow will exit the Stateline by Monday evening.

High temperatures will be close to 70° on Monday, but a strong cold front will cause temperatures to crash on Tuesday.

Air from Siberia - yes, Siberia - is heading toward a huge chunk of the United States and it could set record-low temperatures from Texas to New England.
