Verizon gives customers a year of Disney Plus

Disney+ is three weeks away and I can not wait to stream ALL the Disney/Marvel/Star Wars magic, and if you didn't snag the sweet "3 years for the price of 2" deal that Disney offered back in late August, good news!

Netflix shares sank more than 3 percent Tuesday, after Verizon said it will offer unlimited wireless and broadband customers a free one-year subscription to Walt Disney's soon-to-be-launched streaming service Disney+.

The partnership that was reached names Verizon as the exclusive Disney+ U.S. wireless carrier partner.

Eligible Verizon customers will have access to the highly anticipated streaming service where they can experience everything Disney+ has to offer: never-before-seen original programming including feature-length films, series, documentaries, and short-form content made exclusively for Disney+, along with unprecedented access to Disney's vast collection of films and television shows. This goes for both new and existing customers, as long as you have or signup for the unlimited data plan.

This obviously differs from the Apple Music perk, which has no expiration date for those subscribed to the Play More Unlimited and Get More Unlimited plans, but on the bright side, the Disney+ freebie will be available for everyone on Verizon. "While we've been competing with many people in the last decade, it's a whole new world starting in November... between Apple launching and Disney launching, and of course Amazon's ramping up", Hastings said at a conference in Cambridge, England. The service is set to launch on November 1.

Verizon had 124 million customers across wireless and Fios internet in the second quarter.

Verizon and Disney are taking a page out of Apple's playbook by giving away for free a year's worth of the video service, to quickly build a subscriber base. Verizon customers will be able to activate their Disney+ subscriptions on a selection of mobile and connected-TV devices, including gaming consoles, streaming media players, and smart TVs.
