Mac Miller’s Drug Dealer Charged In Connection To Rapper’s Death

A California man has been charged in connection with the death of hip-hop artist Mac Miller, who suffered a fatal drug overdose in his home almost a year ago, officials said.

According to The Wrap, police allege Cameron James Pettit supplied the late rapper with deadly, fentanyl-laced pills that directly contributed to his fatal overdose a year ago. The oxycodone pills, however, were counterfeits laced with fentanyl - a synthetic opioid that is 50 times more potent than heroin.

The criminal complaint that Pettit was one of three people who supplied Mac with the counterfeit drugs.

Miller had apparently approached him and asked for "percs", an abbreviation for a prescribed painkiller containing oxycodone called percocet.

At the time of his death, his family released a statement that read: "Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26". According to a toxicology report from previous year, Miller died as a result of accidentally overdosing on alcohol, cocaine and fentanyl.

Investigators served search warrants at multiple locations, and recovered a plastic bag containing pills.

Pettit is accused of exchanging direct messages on Instagram with others reacting to Miller's death.

The Drug Enforcement Administration arrested a Hollywood Hills resident Wednesday morning in connection with the fatal overdose of rapper Mac Miller previous year.

Petit was arrested Wednesday morning by special agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration's Fusion Task Force. He is set for an initial appearance on Wednesday afternoon in federal court. "Most likely I will die in jail", according to the affidavit.

Well, not exactly. If convicted, Pettit faces a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.

Two days later, he was found unresponsive inside his home in the 11600 block of Valleycrest Drive and pronounced dead shortly before noon.
