Kim Kardashian West tests positive for lupus antibodies

Kim Kardashian West Jimmy Fallon

"Thinking about the pain in my hands and what it could be is really scary and can get you in a scary head space. I feel this, like, in my bones", said Kardashian. "But lately my wrists have started to hurt again, but it's definitely a different feeling from before", she said. "It's so scary. I have to go to the doctor and see what's going on because I can't live like this".

And while her doctor advised her that false positive results for lupus are possible, Kardashian West was still upset as he ordered a follow-up visit for further testing.

New episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians air Sunday nights on E!.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, 38, turned her back on her favoured cascading locks in favour of an elegant bob which skimmed her shoulders in length while she also glammed up with her sizzling silk ensemble. "That's the scariest part, is you just don't know".

She replied to a Twitter user saying: "Luckily I got an answer quickly but it was a rollercoaster of emotions". She also noticed that her hands had started swelling up and that she was getting exhausted all the time.

"We're going to talk about it next Sunday, but I was able to find an fantastic doctor, Doctor Wallace, and we figured out what the problem is", she shared on Tuesday's Today. "But until I see some of your blood work, I won't really know". "I feel really calm and zen".

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that leads to inflammation in tissues and organs, according to the Mayo Clinic.

During her interview with Today, Kardashian West shared she has been receiving treatment for the problem.

Kris then told her daughters to "stay really positive until we get some results".

Sometimes, however, these antibodies can form to attack normal, healthy cells-as is the case with autoimmune diseases like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis-Brad Rovin, MD, director of the division of nephrology at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center tells Health.

"We typically use one of two scoring criteria that considers symptoms, physical findings and multiple different antibodies all together", Kendrick said about lupus, also called systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

She added, "You really get into this little depression for a minute, I got myself out of it, but it was really scary to get myself through that".
