Revisit Smith's "American Idol" audition below.

Smith impressed "American Idol" judges in 2012 with her rendition of Rufus and Chaka Khan's "Tell Me Something Good" in her Colorado audition at the age of 18. She didn't make it beyond the second Hollywood round, but Haley certainly left an impression on the judges at the time in her audition. Haley's father, Mike Smith, told TMZ that her family believes a deer could have caused the deadly crash. "You're right out of my era and I am honored to be here listening to your voice", Tyler told Smith at the time. "I definitely love being outdoors, it's where I feel most at peace".

Haley was 26, and her family says they were preparing to celebrate her birthday this upcoming November.
