Asus Announces "World's Lightest Laptop" Just Hours After Rival Acer

The Acer Swift 5 gets an upgrade to Intel Ice Lake and NVIDIA MX250

Yesterday morning, Acer proudly announced a new laptop (Swift 5), which weighs just 2.1 pounds and was deemed to be the "world's lightest 14-inch notebook". If you take one hard look at it, you can see why we are absolutely flabbergasted that it houses a new 10th Generation Intel Core processor, and Nvidia graphics.

Once again, Acer has managed to retain the sub-1kg weight for the new generation Swift 5 at 990 grams which can be even lighter if customers choose to stick with integrated graphics.

The latest Swift 5 model weighs just 990 grams with a new discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics option, or even less with newly updated integrated Intel IrisAPro graphics while measuring just 14.95 mm thin. Powering the device is a 10th Gen Intel Core i7-1065G7 processor and it too has an option to upgrade to the NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU. The screen features a three-side narrow bezel with a high screen-to-body ratio of 86.4%.

Acer refreshed its Swift 3 and Swift 5 laptops with 10th Gen Intel Core processors.

The laptop features a 14-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen, full-function USB 3.1 Type-C connector that supports Thunderbolt 3, dual-band Intel Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) as well as Windows Hello via a fingerprint reader and users can install storage up to a 512 GB PCIe Gen 3×4 SSD. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt 3, for some serious connectivity options. The 14-inch Acer Swift 5 has a chassis made from a balanced combination of magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminium alloy giving the laptop its lightweight feel. Acer offers its own suite of color enhancement technologies such as Acer Color Intelligence and Acer ExaColor for life-like colors.

Acer's refreshed models in Swift notebook and Aspire all-in-one desktop ranges are also powered by the latest 10th Gen IntelACore processors.
