Another ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel could take wing at HBO

Yet another 'Game of Thrones' prequel is coming

Now as per reports in Deadline, it's happy news for the insane fans of the insane show, a new GoT Prequel will showcase the "beginning of the end of House Targaryen" and 300 years before the Game of Thrones events took place. While that's already filming, a second one is close to getting a pilot order greenlit with HBO.

Fire & Blood, released in 2018, is a book by Martin that specifically explores the Targaryen lineage, including Aegon the Conqueror's creation of the Iron Throne, as well as the Dance of Dragons, a massive civil war, which is speculated to be a part of the new prequel. Deadline was first to report on the prequel.

For those who have lived decent enough lives to not be in the know about ASOIAF/GoT, the Targaryens are one of the central families of the series.

After a disappointing end to the eight season-long series Game Of Thrones, the makers of the series decided to make a prequel of the show titled Blood Moon.

Martin himself wrote about all the possible GoT follow-ups in a blog post in May, where he hinted at a Targaryen prequel.

"Two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer".

The pilot for this series will be set 300 years before the events that concluded the eighth season of GoT.

HBO had initially announced that they would be doing five prequel series after Game of Thrones ended.

Game of Thrones just wrapped in May, but we're nowhere near done seeing adaptations of George R.R. Martin's expansive sourcework on the small screen. The show will explore the origins of the White Walkers, the mysteries of Essos and the legends of the early Stark family.

According to Deadline, a pilot episode is nearing a green light from the network and the prequel has been created by Martin and Ryan Condal.

The race to become "The Next Game of Thrones" is a crowded field indeed, and the biggest contenders all seem to be.

Martin apologised: "I know I should be at home writing right now, I'm sorry!"
