You can get Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu together for really cheap

Should Apple's streaming service cost more than Disney's newly announced bundle, it could be in trouble from the outset. But with this kind of pricing, and its incredible content library, Disney is about as close to a sure thing as is possible.

Iger said the business will "augment" the Disney+ offering in certain markets with local programming to meet quotas - such as the European content quotas of 30% local content for OTT services - and will also "enter into discussions on an worldwide basis market-by-market with local distributors as well".

Comparatively speaking, this is a deal most streaming services can't beat.

At the theme parks unit, overall operating income rose 4% to $1.7 billion but declined at Disney's US parks. That's a lot cheaper than the $16-$17 price range for HBO Max, and happens to be the same price as Netflix's standard plan.

Of course if you don't want all three services, Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ will still all be available separately for $6.99, $5.99 and $4.99 per month respectively.

The company's direct-to-consumer and global unit reported an operating loss of US$533 million, up from US$168 million year over year, while media networks (including ESPN, the Disney Channels and FX) reported a 7% increase in income to US$2.1 billion. The main takeaway though, as usual, was that Disney has its fingers in everything, and that's not changing for a long time. Eventually, these streaming services will be needing to make money, and that's going to be tough at these low prices. They had the first part and were depending on Netflix for the latter.

This subscription will become more expensive, but it's great to take advantage of it right now if you can. They could build their own platform and their audience would follow.

Both Netflix and Disney (along with others like Warner Brothers, and NBC Universal) have realized that to compete they'd have to change.

"I´d like to congratulate The Walt Disney Studios for reaching $8 billion at the global box office so far this year - a new industry record - thanks to the stellar performance of our Marvel, Pixar and Disney films".
