In May 2019, Samsung unveiled a 64MP smartphone sensor, but although we've heard it rumored to debut on many phones from brands like Xiaomi, Realme and Redmi, nothing has actually released with the camera yet. Size of the sensors is unlikely to be affected and mostly would remain at the standard 1/1.5-inches. Samsung says it's sensor would be used to produce 27 megapixel images, which is still way more than nearly anyone needs.
This is the 108MP (108000000 pixels) CIS customized by Samsung Semiconductor for Xiaomi. Samsung has announced a new 108 megapixel ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor.
According to tipster Ice Universe, Xiaomi will be the first OEM to adopt the massive 108MP camera lens manufactured by Samsung.

"We are very pleased that picture resolutions previously available only in a few top-tier DSLR cameras can now be designed into smartphones", said Lin Bin, co-founder and president of Xiaomi.
Manu Jain, global vice-president at Xiaomi and managing director at Xiaomi India said, "We have these people who are young, passionate, and they are typically considered as tech geeks or people who know about technology". It is unclear if Samsung will incorporate it into their flagship phones. And it's a way for Samsung - whose smartphone sales have all but evaporated in China - to tap the world's biggest mobile arena by selling components instead of devices. The Redmi Note 7S comes with the Snapdragon 660 SoC and a 48MP Samsung ISOCELL GM1 primary rear camera instead of the Sony sensor and is more affordable than the Note 7 Pro.
