Sony and Disney break up, ending Marvel's involvement in Spider-Man movies

Steve and Peggy finally reuinte in Avengers Endgame

Sony Pictures, which owns the film rights for the super hero, failed to reach an agreement with Marvel's parent company Disney over future movies, according to Deadline.

Many seem to be complaining as a way to keep Spider-Man in the MCU (for the record, the companies are still in negotiations so there is some hope left), but others appear to be completely serious about the boycott.

The report states that there are two Spider-Man films in the works with director Jon Watts and star Tom Holland, but Marvel Studios maestro Kevin Feige won't be involved in them "unless something dramatic happens". Over the course of the tutorial, you'll have a chance to play as Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Black Widow, each of which have their own distinctive movesets.

Sony and Marvel Studios have been unable to come to terms for future Spider-Man movies, effectively ending the unique partnership that resulted in beloved films Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home, as well as Spidey's appearance in the Avengers movies.

Both Sony Pictures and Disney have been contacted for comment. Sony wanted to keep its original licensing agreement - Marvel now gets about 5 percent of first dollar gross.

Feige wanted Spider-Man to join the modern MCU badly, and he hated to see the character abused in reboot after reboot over at Sony, so he worked out a deal that would allow Sony to reap a proportionately large share of the box office profits as long as they relinquished creative control of movies directly involving Spider-Man to Feige.

The latest Spider-Man movie, Far From Home, ends with Peter Parker facing a big revelation that changes his entire life. He might be teaming up with Tom Hardy's Venom instead.
