Serena Williams again tops Forbes list of highest-paid sports women

United States business magazine Forbes announced on Tuesday the 2019 list based on each athlete's aggregate amount of prize money, salaries and endorsements over the year through June 1.

Osaka was only beaten by 23-time grand slam singles champion Williams, who topped the standings for the fourth year on the spin, earning US$29.2 million. "Sindhu remains India's most marketable female athlete". Former Wimbledon champion Angelique Kerber was third on the list with earnings of $11.8 million followed by this year's Wimbledon champion Simona Halep.

USA women's soccer player Alex Morgan is the highest-placed non-tennis player on the women's list at number 12, with Forbes putting her total earnings of $5.8 million. "She became the first Indian to win the season-ending BWF World Tour finals in 2018", Forbes said, reported AFP. Williams is the only female athlete in Forbes' top 100 overall list, ranking 63rd.
