Real Madrid can still sign Neymar before Barcelona

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku

Talks between the two clubs reached an impasse earlier in the summer but PSG are now more willing to sell Neymar with tensions between the player and high-ranking officials at the club reaching boiling point.

And while Real Madrid fans would love to see another marquee signing before the summer is out, particularly after the disappointment of not having signed Pogba, the majority of them would rather it not be Neymar.

"Two of my friends said that PSG had a great team - and they did - and that they had already qualified, this and that..." he told DAZN.

However, now a fresh set of reports carried by MARCA, a Spanish national daily newspaper dedicated to sports, state that Neymar is not looking specifically for Barcelona but is desperate to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) before the transfer window slams shut.

And that's good news for Neymar who is still a PSG player despite reports that the club wanted an exit for the Brazilian before the start of the Ligue 1 campaign.

And after Barca's vice-president confirmed a Neymar swoop was off, Real Madrid stepped up their interest for the Brazilian forward.

According to Globo Esporte, Real Madrid are ready to use Gareth Bale and Keylor Navas as part of the deal. "I don't like him, but today he would be a necessary player at Real Madrid", wrote Pepiño Casa Sande.

- Manchester United opted against signing a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who left for Inter.

Sources have told ESPN FC that United have not ruled out replacing the 26-year-old with Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic but there is an acceptance it may prove hard with time running out before Thursday's transfer deadline.
