Nike is now peddling a shoe subscription service

Nike rolls out a subscription service for kids’ sneakers

"But now, a solution: Nike Adventure Club, Nike's first footwear subscription service for children". The options will cost either $20, $30, or $50 per month, respectively. Parents and kids can choose to keep any shoe they like, and when they're done they can exchange it with Nike for a new pair, while the old one will be either donated or recycled. Nike brought on 10,000 families from its customer base to test it out, and ultimately found that the parents most interested in this program were people who valued convenience and time over price. "But an equally important question is, 'What kind of experience are we providing for their parents?' We want to make shopping for footwear as convenient as possible for them".

Aimed at the US kids shoe market, estimated at an annual $10-billion, "Adventure Club" builds on Nike's SNKRS app, which notifies shoppers every time it launches a new shoe or has an exclusive sneaker at a nearby store.

Launching today, children (and their parents) will have the option to choose from 100 pairs of styles and depending on what subscription service you purchase warrants how many shoes Nike will send you.

Choose from three tiers of subscription services, ranging from four pairs a year to 12 pairs a year.

"Nike Adventure Club was created by busy parents for busy parents", said Shortell.

"We see Nike Adventure Club sits as having a unique place within Nike, and not just for it being the first sneaker club for kids", Dave Cobban, VP of Nike Adventure Club, said in a press release.

"Twice a year we'll send you a pre-paid shoe bag that you can fill with any shoe from any brand and ship it back to us", said Cobban.

Nike started piloting a sneaker club for kids two years ago. The guides are a collaborative partnership between Nike and KaBoom, a national nonprofit focused on encouraging kids to lead active, healthy lifestyles.

Nike has reportedly already been quietly testing the subscription service under the name "Easy Kicks" for the last two years, according to CNBC.
