Man Utd & Tottenham Make Philippe Coutinho Enquiries as Arsenal 'Agreement' Is Dismissed

Philippe Coutinho seeks Premier League return as Barcelona say he can leave on loan just 18 months after signing for £142m

"We do not know what will happen, but Philippe is a player who is with us", he told a news conference after Wednesday's 2-1 friendly win over Napoli.

TOTTENHAM have joined Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United in the battle to sign Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho before the transfer window closes tomorrow.

His agent has started courting Premier League sides to see who would be tempted to make an offer and Spurs might have a secret weapon up their sleeve.

Spurs are braced for European clubs making cut price bids of under £50million for Eriksen once the Premier League window closes since the windows in Spain, Italy, Germany and France are open until later.

However, it seems as though Poch's attempts to woo the Brazilian have been unsuccessful, with Sky now reporting that Coutinho has turned down the chance to move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sky Sports reported earlier this week that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino had called the Brazilian to try and convince him to join the London club.

Coutinho spent a successful six-month spell at Espanyol in 2012, with Pochettino signing the then 20-year-old on loan from Inter Milan.

Reports circulated yesterday that Arsenal had agreed a 12-month loan deal for Coutinho.

He would have preferred to rejoin Liverpool given his history at the club, but has accepted that move is not on the cards.

"He didn't play today because, like Arthur and [Arturo] Vidal, they've only had two training sessions".

"He's a top quality player, the way he breaks from deep-lying midfield positions, his shooting ability - it's a mystery why it hasn't gone well for him at Barcelona".
