Colin Kaepernick delivers message to the NFL: 'Still ready'

President Trump

"If he's good enough, they would sign him", Trump told reporters at the White House before a weekend raising cash in the Hamptons and staying at his New Jersey golf club.

Trump's answer might surprise a few people. "Frankly, I would love to see Kaepernick come in if he's good enough".

"I think if he's good enough, I know the owners - I know (Patriots owner Robert) Kraft, I know so numerous owners - if he's good enough, they'd sign him".

Trump said in September 2016 that NFL owners should "get that son of a bitch off the field" when any players protest during the national anthem. He recently posted a workout video that suggests he's ready to get back into the league and Friday, Trump was questioned about Kap's NFL prospects. "For 3 years. Still Ready". If he's good enough, they'd sign him. "If he's good enough, he would be in", USA Today noted. Why wouldn't he play if he was good enough. That never happened. Kaepernick was at the time three years removed from leading San Francisco to the cusp of a Super Bowl title.

But speaking about Kaepernick Friday, President did not mention the protests in connect to the quarterback's efforts to return.

Kaepernick released a video earlier this week saying: "5 a.m. 5 days a week. But I don't want to see him come in if somebody thinks it's a good PR move".

However, Eagles starting quarterback Carson Wentz has sustained season-ending injuries each of the past two seasons.

In six seasons with the 49ers, Kaepernick amassed 12,271 passing yards, 72 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions.

Kaepernick drew national attention in 2016 when he sat, and later knelt, during the national anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality in the United States. Trump also seemed to take credit for Kaepernick going unsigned.
