"Everybody knows that Bayern is a really big club. We not only want to go after the Bundesliga and the German Cup but also the Champions League", Perisic said.

The 82-time capped Croatian holds vast experience of the Bundesliga, having played six seasons in Germany with Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg respectively.

He also played under Bayern coach Niko Kovac during the latter's two-year spell as Croatia coach between 2013 and 2015.

The Bundesliga holders were in the market for a new wide player following the summer departures of long-serving wingers Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

It remains unclear whether Bayern will still make a bid for Sane despite his injury.

Do you think Perisic will be success at Bayern?

Perisic was pictured leaving a hospital in Munich on Monday and told Bild: "Yeah, I just had the medical check-up".

Perisic returns to the Bundesliga after four seasons in Italy.
