Xiaomi officially teases the Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite smartphone's arrival

Xiaomi Teases the Launch of its Mi A3 Android One Smartphone

In a fresh set of rumors, a report from MSP claims that Xiaomi isn't using the Snapdragon 710 or 712 for the Mi A3 phones.

The Xiaomi Mi A3 will ship with stock Android 9 Pie straight out of the box as part of the Android One program but should receive an update to Android 10 Q before the end of this year. Xiaomi did not specify the models, but the "Mi A series" term is an indication that the company might launch more than one phone soon, possibly the Mi A3 and the Mi A3 Lite. Additionally, the Mi A2 had the headphone jack missing which turned out to be a deal-breaker for many, so Xiaomi has brought it back with the Mi A3.

Xiaomi has an upcoming launch happening in the country next week, the Redmi K20 series.

According to the aforementioned leak from earlier in the week, Xiaomi is prepping the launch of two Mi A-series devices in the coming days - the Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite. While the smartphones are yet to be confirmed, they seem to be rebranded CC9 smartphones for different global markets. The latest leak and the US FCC listing mention that the Mi A3 will draw power from the Snapdragon 665. The Mi A3 and A3 Lite are expected to come with an AMOLED display and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Recently, it was reported that the A3 will be powered by the Snapdragon 730 SoC while the A3 Lite will be powered by SD675 SoC.

Other rumoured specifications include a 4,000 mAh battery, Type-C USB port, 18W fast charging, 32MP selfie camera, triple cameras with a 48MP sensor and an AMOLED screen. It's noticeably smaller than the notch used on the budget Mi A2 Lite a year ago but still large enough to house one front-facing camera which, per the accompanying spec sheet, will offer a 32-megapixel resolution. The chip should be paired with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of non-expandable internal storage.
