Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh Will Both Play Superman In Crisis Crossover

Tyler Hoechlin & Brandon Routh To Suit Up As Superman For Arrowverse Crossover On the CW

All five DC TV series will be involved - and Routh will be joined by Tyler Hoechlin, who previously played Superman on Supergirl, and will once again play Clark Kent for this miniseries.

In the upcoming Arrowverse crossover event, Legends of Tomorrow's Brandon Routh will suit up as the Man of Steel - just as he did for the 2006 Bryan Singer film, Superman Returns.

"Honored, humbled, grateful, and still pinching myself", Routh Tweeted when the announcement was made.

Both Hoechlin and Routh are already members of the Arrowverse - Hoechlin recurs as Superman on Supergirl, while Routh plays Ray Palmer/The Atom on DC's Legends Of Tomorrow, a character he first introduced on Arrow. Arriving two years before the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and, therefore, the concept of share movie universes in general), the flick was well-received, with critics singling out the performances of Routh and Kevin Spacey (as Lex Luthor) for praise.

Hoechlin, meanwhile, has held down the role of Big Blue on Supergirl since 2016, and his iteration of the character figured prominently into the narrative of Elseworlds. But if it's anything like the comic (which we recommended below), fans should be in for a treat.

As it now stands, The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman aall take place on Earth-1.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" will also mark the end of the show that started the entire Arrowverse, Arrow.
