Taika Waititi is returning to write and direct ‘Thor 4’

Taika Waititi Is Returning To Direct Thor 4

What's interesting about Thor 4 is that it's the first instance in which an original Avenger is continuing their standalone franchise beyond a trilogy. With Thor flying off with the Guardians at the finale of Endgame, I would love it that he would appear in the movie in the same level that Hulk was part of Ragnarok. Although Akira, which was already experiencing production problems, now faces an uncertain future, Warner Bros. reportedly still wants to retain Waititi for that project.

Big news for Marvel fans is here as their favourite superhero, Chris Hemsworth's Thor is all set to return for Thor 4.

Taika Waititi is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to write and direct Thor 4, the follow-up to his blockbuster Thor: Ragnarok, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The bad news? Waititi singing on for another Thor film means that the live-action adaptation of Akira is now on hold. We assumed we weren't done with Chris Hemsworth as the Asgardian adventurer, especially not after his wonderful arc beginning in Ragnarok and ending in Avengers: Endgame.

The news, however, isn't good for Waititi's planned take on Akira. One assumes, then, that Thor 4 will likely release within the next couple of years. We don't really know what the story could be about, but hopefully it will pick up after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers:Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Josh Brolin. That might change during San Diego Comic-Con, which kicks off on Thursday, July 18 and has Marvel Studios' panel scheduled for Saturday, July 20 at 5:15 PM PST.
