Everything to Know About July's Full Buck Moon — the First Full Moon of Summer

The full moon, in Sagittarius, will pass partway through the southern part of the Earth's shadow resulting in a partial lunar eclipse.

The partial lunar eclipse will be visible across India, except some parts of Arunachal Pradesh. The eclipse will be visible in its entirety throughout the Netherlands - and many other countries in Europe, including Germany, France and Spain.

Penumbral eclipse will begin at 23:44 PST tonight, while partial eclipse will begin at 01:02 PST, the met office said. Starting at 1843 GMT, which is around 12.15 am on July 17 in India, the eclipse will end at 0017 GMT or around 5.30 am in the morning.

During a partial eclipse, some - but not all - of the Moon passes through the darkest area of shadow behind the Earth, the central region called the umbra.

The penumbral phases of the eclipse occur when the moon is only within the penumbra, or the pale outer fringe of Earth's shadow.
