Marcus Morris Considering Signing One-Year Deal With Knicks

The twist followed in another report from Wojnarowski; Marcus Morris - who committed to signing with the San Antonio Spurs - is "re-considering" that agreement and is eyeing a contract with the Knicks.

San Antonio Spurs fans thought the team may have been done in free agency after they signed DeMarre Carroll to a two-year, $13 million deal to add some veteran depth on the wing.

If Morris were to back out and sign with the Knicks, that would be a big blow to the Spurs, who seemingly got Morris on a very reasonable contract.

However, with Taj Gibson and last season's ninth overall pick Kevin Knox the only real competition besides Julius Randle for significant minutes at either forward slot, Morris would likely see more playing time than he would in San Antonio's stacked forward rotation. Let's take a look at how the Knicks would look with Morris, both in terms of their starting lineup and 2019-20 roster.

The other piece to this somewhat odd puzzle is that the Knicks may have additional salary cap space because they are reworking their deal with free agent guard Reggie Bullock. His agent and the team are "re-evaluating Bullock's fitness to play a full season in 2019-20".

In a brief conversation with ESPN, Bauman was complimentary of how the Knicks handled an emerging situation with Bullock, citing how accommodating ownership, front office and medical staff had been with the player's situation. The Spurs' seemingly shrewd offseason could totally crumble if they end up losing Marcus Morris to NY. As ESPN's Bobby Marks pointed out, San Antonio traded Davis Bertans with the expectation of Morris coming. The Spurs defeat the Knicks 120-89.

The 2019 National Basketball Association free agency period opened a little over a week ago with a chaotic start.
