Joe Root shatters Ricky Ponting's long standing World Cup record

England beat Australia to reach Cricket World Cup final

England's director of cricket Ashley Giles said in February that they are nearly certain to have one coach in charge of their test, one-day worldwide and Twenty20 teams after Bayliss completes his stint.

After beating Australia the hosts who have never won the World Cup will play New Zealand in their first final for 27 years.

"We have just got to concentrate on the way we have gone about our cricket over the past four years and what has got us to this point and go through our process".

Australian Bayliss, though, has called for calm as England look to go one better than they did in their last World Cup final appearance in 1992 when they lost against Imran Khan's Pakistan by 22 runs in Melbourne.

"We sit down about the 17th (July), three days after this World Cup final for that to be discussed", he said.

With 12 catches to his name, Joe Root surpassed former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting's record of 11 catches during the 2003 World Cup. "The reason why England's one-day cricket has been revolutionised is down to Morgan", the Yorkshireman said.

Woakes struck twice early on as Australia slumped to 14-3 after winning the toss in Birmingham but Steve Smith led the recovery for Australia with 85 and Alex Carey made 46.

The key to victory, says Morgan, is for England to maintain the same positive approach and not let the occasion at Lord's impact on their decision-making.

Yet England will be there, walking out at the home of cricket as favorite against New Zealand in a match that will crown a first-time victor of the sport's biggest prize.

They now parade an intimidatingly deep lineup with Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow, comfortably the most destructive opening pair in contemporary cricket, leading the charge upfront.

"I think it would be really important for someone like New Zealand", he said.

"I think Archer has given England that X factor so those two guys are form payers but I wouldn't be surprised if Ben Stokes steps up to the plate in the final and produces something special".

The Cricket World Cup will have a new owner.

"That has worked out extremely well for us and given the support that we've had throughout, the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board), the backroom staff, as players we have taken that as far as we can so far".

"Sunday's not a day to shy away from, it's a day to look forward to, much like against Australia" he said.
