Gooden was then arrested and charged with several offenses including third-degree drug possession, driving while intoxicated, and over-tinted windows, according to a filing by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Gooden also found himself in trouble for showing up high on cocaine to a meeting with his probation officer in 2006.

Gooden was pulled over by the Holmdel Police Department on June 7 when he was traveling too slow and failing to maintain his lane on the highway. Gooden was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled unsafe substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being under the influence. He is due back in court on July 23. Four years later, he was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance in New Jersey with his 5-year-old son in the auto. Gooden is now 54-years-old, and he was first sent to a rehabilitation facility in 1987 for cocaine possession.

The 1985 Cy Young award victor has a lengthy history of drug addiction which has unfortunately overshadowed his baseball exploits.

After violating his drug aftercare program in 1994, Gooden was suspended for the entire 1995 baseball season.

In 2016, he told The Post that he'd been sober ever since entering rehab four years earlier.

The arrest is the latest in the athlete's lengthy public battle with cocaine addiction, which overshadowed his storied sports career.

He also threw a no-hitter with the New York Yankees in 1996.

When healthy, Gooden was a huge talent, winning the 1985 National League Cy Young Award and helping lead the Mets to a World Series championship the following season.

The uncle of retired Major League slugger Gary Sheffield, Gooden retired with a 194-112 record and a 3.51 earned-run average over his 16 Major League seasons.
