Following the fire, the festival said the beach had been closed "for safety precautions". "The fire was spreading really fast, flames were billowing as high as 25 meters".

However, organisers have since released a statement confirming the "great news" that the emergency services had managed to clear the fire and reopen the roads.

"The emergency services are still working to contain the remaining fire and we are awaiting a report from them before we can comment on how this will affect today's performances".

"The people on the lower level did not seem to have noticed the flames". Security have escorted fans to the beach and parking behind Noa Club and will direct people to shuttle buses leaving from the top of Noa Club parking near the main road to take people to Novalja town.

Organizers noted in a follow-up tweet that attendees should not attempt to make their way back to town by themselves and should wait for until emergency services to provide more information.

Tyga was slated to headline the show at Papaya Nightclub along with United Kingdom rapper NOT3S.

According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, citing an eyewitness, at least one club has been evacuated.

The fire broke out just behind the Calypso club, the oldest club on Zrce beach, but firefighters' intervention early on Tuesday morning ensured that the club did not burn down and was not damaged.
