Atletico chief Cerezo threatens Barcelona: 'We have evidence'

Barcelona hand Antoine Griezmann club-record release clause following €120m switch from Atletico

The France worldwide becomes Barca's third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Frenkie de Jong and Neto.

Antoine Griezmann signed for Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad in 2014.

The 28-year-old World Cup victor has signed a five-year deal which includes an 800m euro (£717m) release clause. Plus, Dan Thomas, Alejandro Moreno and Shaka Hislop break down Barcelona's projected XI for next season, with the arrivals of Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong, and discuss the futures of potential Barca outcasts Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.

Barcelona signed Antoine Griezmann after paying his $135 million buyout clause.

Earlier in July, Atletico hit out at both Barcelona and Griezmann for showing them "disrespect" in reportedly agreeing a transfer in March.

"Atletico de Madrid considers that the deposited amount is insufficient to cover his buyout clause, since it is obvious that the agreement between the player and FC Barcelona was closed before the clause was reduced from €200 million to €120 million".

But the club are willing to secure their investment in the French World Cup victor and have inserted an astronomical €800m release clause in his contract. Barca were reluctant to move for him initially due to the way he turned them down via a documentary called "The Decision" last summer.

Griezmann announced in May that he would be leaving Atletico this summer, but it was not until July, when his release clause dipped, that Barca confirmed they wanted to sign him.

"Griezmann, represented by his lawyer, has appeared at the headquarters of the Professional Football League to unilaterally terminate the contract that links the player with Atletico", reads a statement from the club. He also won the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup in that time.
