Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny refuses to go on US soccer tour

Arsenal's Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Arsenal's French defender Laurent Koscielny attend a training session at Arsenal's London Colney training centre in St. Albans

Koscielny's future at Arsenal is reportedly in doubt after entering the final year of his contract with no sign of a new deal.

In some rather startling news for Arsenal fans, the club has confirmed officially that one of their top stars has refused to join the squad for their pre season tour of the United States (US).

The Gunners have released a statement after the refusal of the Skipper Laurent Koscielny to involve in the pre-season tour.

Heading into his second campaign as manager Emery was counting on Koscielny, whose present contract expires in June 2020, but the Tulle-born forward has unilaterally made a decision to skip their U.S. trip.

Arsenal says it was working to resolve the matter.

Koscielny, who cost Arsenal £8.5m from Lorient back in 2010, will be ordered to report to London Colney every day and to train with the Under-23 squad and the players who have not been selected to travel to America. Last season Emery dealt with Mesut Ozil being unhappy and the Spanish coach was all about unity and having a collective spirit following Arsene Wenger's departure. Considering this situation with Koscielny, they may try and keep Saliba for the upcoming season instead.

The Premier League season will see the Gunners open with a trip to Newcastle on 11 August.

However, in recent years injuries have hit him hard and although nobody really points the finger towards him with regards to Arsenal's recent defensive frailties, Koscielny has been to blame with some major errors. Then again, you can not let one player dictate your transfer dealings as they sets a poor precedent.
