Amazon Prime Day: Heed these tips before you click

Prime Day Amazon’s made-up holiday can trick you into spending too much. Here are five ways to win the day

To avail the "Youth Offer" on Prime memberships, users have to sign up for the Prime annual membership from the "youth offer" banner by paying Rs 999 with any electronic payment method (credit card, debit card, net banking or Amazon pay balance). And this year's doorbuster sales event will be more distracting than ever, as Amazon has decided to make it a two-day shopping extravaganza running through the end of Tuesday.

Creating a normal account on Amazon is free, but an Amazon Prime membership will run you $8.99 a month for a Prime Video-only membership, $12.99 a month for an overall monthly membership or a $119 flat fee for an annual membership with all the same allowances as Prime Monthly. The daughter then pipes up that there sure is - on Prime Day, eBay will be having a sale "on things people actually want".

Many "lightning deals" offered on Prime Day were from third-party sellers. There will be an Amazon exclusive version of Jabra Elite 85h headphones launching on Prime Day. All you have to do is sign up between now and midnight on 16th of July, and you can enjoy all the perks on offer with a 25% discount. This is the membership that gives you next day delivery and access to the retail behemoth's TV service and so on - being a regular Amazon member and shopper is not enough to take advantage of this event.

From now through July 22, the site will offer up to 80 percent off on the hottest consumer tech, smart home devices and appliances.

Hundreds of fashion brands will be available at bargain prices during the sale.
