When the Strawberry Moon will be best for viewing

Strawberry Moon

Other countries that share the same time zone as New Delhi, India will be able to watch the peak of the Strawberry Moon at 2 p.m. According to the Farmer's Almanac, why this one is named the Strawberry Moon is being it is the peak time for harvesting strawberries.

"A shrinking line-of-sight through planet Earth's dense and dusty atmosphere shifted the moonlight from strawberry red through honey-colored and paler yellowish hues".

The Strawberry Moon is also sometimes known as Mead Moon, Honey Moon, Long Night Moon or Cold Moon.

June's full moon is called the Strawberry Moon because it coincides with the time when wild strawberries traditionally ripen. That's very "normal" June weather for the month's full moon!

The strawberry moon is not a supermoon but if it is a clear night then skygazers will still have an easy time viewing it from moonrise until it sets at around 5.39am.

Weather permitting, Kiwis are set to see the sweetest full moon of the year.

Will the moon look like in slight pinkish colour?

And if you miss the Full Moon tonight, do not worry, because Full Moons always appear full for about three days around the peak.

According to NASA's Gordon Johnston, "the orbit of the Moon around the Earth is nearly in the same plane as the orbit of the Earth around the Sun, only about 5 degrees off". While the moon won't be as colourful as ripe strawberry, it may actually change colour slightly, if you live in northern side. Once the moon rises higher in the sky, it loses light, shifting to the familiar white orb of children's books.

"Say you are in the city, and you're watching between a couple of buildings or over the skyline, it will make it feel that much bigger and give it more impact".

But the good news is once the Moon slowly creeps over the horizon later tonight, it will still be exceptionally bright and handsome.
