Russian Doll gets a second series

Russian Doll Renewed Season 2 Netflix

It's reported that the second season will be structured similarly to the first, in that it'll be eight episodes.

The first season of the showRussian Doll stunned fans and received rave reviews, with the freaky comedy scoring 100 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, which is usually a solid gold stamp of approval.

On a panel at Recode's Code Conference, Lyonne - who plays the foul-mouthed video game designer Nadia Vulvokov - spoke about the future of Russian Doll with Netflix's VP of content acquisition, Cindy Holland. "Nadia is a coder so it would be appropriate to have this be the time and place", said Lyonne.

Poehler initially sold the series to Netflix as part of a three-season deal, likely dependent on how well the first season went, so it is probably fair to assume that we have at least two more seasons on the way over the next few years. Lyonne stars as a NY woman who becomes caught in an endless loop of attending her own birthday party only to die and repeat the night over and over again.

The hit Netflix series Russian Doll has been renewed for a second season. Suffice to say, it's getting a second season. She co-created the series with Poehler and Leslye Headland, wrote several episodes and helmed the finale as director. "And they said: 'Great, the more of that, the better. It's not a one-woman show, so what would be the most fun way to tell you this story?"

Let's just hope that algorithm keeps doing its job, so those of us wanting more like Russian Doll don't have to miss out. "Here are the resources and the support - take off'".
