Dillons stores in Kansas to start selling topical CBD products next week

Kroger stores across the country- including 92 in Michigan- will be adding CBD products this summer

That specific market includes products derived from the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa L.

Retail giants like Walmart Inc (NYSE: WMT) and Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) have also reportedly explored the possibility of CBD sales in recent months.

Kroger stores in MI will begin carrying CBD products this week as the grocery chain becomes the latest retailer to tap into the trendy alternative remedy.

The hemp industry is no stranger to Kentucky.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed a law legalizing hemp production and certain CBD products in the state of Texas.

However, regulations around legal use of CBD oil varies in many jurisdictions.

"Our limited selection of hemp-derived CBD topical products is from suppliers, which have been reviewed for quality and safety", Lowrie continued.

Consumer demand for CBD, a non-intoxicating compound found in marijuana and hemp that proponents say can help with a variety of ailments, has spiked since the farm bill passed in December.

Kroger will be carrying products that contain no THC, company officials said.

The grocery chain's corporate affairs manager for its MI division, Rachel Hurst, said the company will begin the rollout this week in 17 states, according to The Detroit News.
