Cuba Gooding Jr charged with forcible touching after incident in NY

Cuba Gooding Jr. surrenders after groping allegation lawyer says he’s ‘frisky

The lawyer also disputed allegations in media reports from a second woman said to have come forward in recent days, who told police Gooding grabbed her buttocks at a New York City restaurant in 2008.

AFP news agency reports that a police spokesman confirmed that the 51-year-old Gooding - who won an Academy Award in 1997 for his performance as a football player in Jerry Maguire - had surrendered on Thursday, but would not comment on the nature of the complaint. Heller told USA Today that he had seen the video and "did not see one scintilla of criminal culpability on the part of Cuba Gooding".

The 29-year-old accuser spoke to the NYPD on Monday morning, but her identity has not yet been confirmed, and nor has she spoke to any members of the press.

"I trust the system", he said as he walked through Los Angeles International Airport, adding that there was a tape "that shows what really happened".

After saying that Gooding Jr. would be turning himself in Thursday to NYPD, Heller and the "Boyz In The Hood" actor have postponed the decision. Gooding denies the allegations.

Officials said CGJ might not be charged for the 2008 incident because it took place 11 years ago, and NY has a five year statute of limitations on these types of alleged assaults.

"There is no pattern of conduct", Heller said. Gooding's lawyer said security video will exonerate the actor.

Video posted on social media shows Gooding at Magic Hour on Sunday night singing the Journey hit "Faithfully" and posing for pictures with fans.

The leading man's legal team tells ET they reviewed surveillance video on Wednesday from the venue of the alleged offense, and they say it does not show any crime had been committed.

Gooding was nominated for an Emmy Award a year ago for playing O.J. Simpson in the FX series "The People v. O.J. Simpson" and recently appeared on Broadway and London's West End as lawyer Billy Flynn in "Chicago".
