Tiger Woods faces wrongful death lawsuit over restaurant employee

BETHPAGE NEW YORK- MAY 13 Tiger Woods of the United States looks on during a practice round prior to the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black

The wrongful death lawsuit filed by the parents of 24-year-old Nicolas Immesberger says his blood-alcohol limit was more than three times the legal limit when he crashed his Corvette after leaving The Woods bar and restaurant in Jupiter, Fla., on December 10, NBC reports.

The family of the employee, Nicholas Immesberger, filed the suit in West Palm Beach, Fla., saying that Woods and Herman, who is the restaurant's general manager, were both responsible for the staffer's death.

A bartender at Tiger Woods' Florida restaurant was allegedly over-served after his shift last December and died in crash driving home. According to the suit, he had a blood-alcohol reading of.256, over three times the legal limit in Florida.

His family alleges Woods and Herman knew Immesberger personally and were aware or "reasonably should have known" of his tendency to over-consume alcohol as a 'habitual drunkard'.

Tiger Woods of the United States looks on during a practice round prior to the 2019 PGA Championship at the Bethpage Black course on May 13, 2019 in Bethpage, New York. Immesberger crashed on his drive home and died in the accident. He was said to have lost control of his 1999 Chevrolet Corvette and veered right across three lanes of the highway, running into a grass area before going airborne. "Despite this, the employees and management at The Woods continued to serve Immesberger alcohol while he was working as well as after work, while he sat at the bar". The restaurant is said to be primarily run by Woods' girlfriend, Erica Herman.

The lawsuit filed by attorneys Craig Goldenfarb and Spencer Kuvin seeks medical and funeral expenses as well as other "appropriate damages". According to CNN, he was scheduled to be part of a tournament news conference Tuesday morning. The 43-year-old will be seeking to earn a second straight major title following his win last month at the Masters, which was his first major victory since 2008.
