Plane With No Front Wheels Makes Emergency Landing in Myanmar

Myanmar Plane In Emergency Touchdown As Landing Gear Fails

Captain Myat Moe Aung of Myanmar National Airlines safely landed an Embraer 190 passenger aircraft at Mandalay airport in northern Myanmar after the front landing gear failed to deploy.

All 82 passengers and seven crew members aboard Flight UB103 from Yangon were declared safe after the dramatic landing on Sunday in Myanmar's second-biggest city.

Ye Htut Aung, deputy director general of Myanmar's Civil Aviation Department, told AFP the pilot tried repeatedly to deploy the front landing gear - first through its computer system, then manually.

However, in the nailbiting touchdown, no one in the flight was injured.

"The plane continued to fly due to the landing gear failure". The passengers were evacuated with proper emergency evacuations by the cabin crew as well.

On December 20, 2008, a Contiental Airlines Boeing 737 was attempting to take off from Denver International Airport. "After circling nearly two times, the captain said they were going to make an emergency landing", he said.

He then tried a backup emergency procedure to pull down the wheels without success.

The airline confirmed that there were no injuries from the incident and the pilot carefully landed the plane onto the runway.

After the pilot set the rear wheels on the ground, the plane's nose fell forward, scraping the runway and creating sparks before slowing down the aircraft to a stop.

Captain Myat Moe Aung burned excess fuel to reduce the craft's weight the airline said.

It may be mentioned that on Wednesday, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines plane crash-landed and slid off a runaway while it was landing in Yangon Airport of Myanmar.
