Paul Crowther Identified as Man Who Threw Milkshake at Nigel Farage

‘How did you not stop that?’ Farage furious after being hit with MILKSHAKE (VIDEO)

In the background, witnesses of the attack can be heard laughing as Farage attempts to make a swift exit.

Soon, Farage's name was a trending topic on Twitter, with many weighing in on the incident in both defense and condemnation of Crowther's actions.

Mr Crowther said he had been looking forward to the £5.25 milkshake, 'but I think it went on a better objective'.

"It's a right of protest against people like him", he told reporters while being detained. He was unrepentant, saying that "the bile and the racism [Farage] spouts out in this country is far more damaging than a bit of milkshake to his front". After the attack he was arrested and taken into police custody.

Last week, police apparently ordered a McDonald's outlet near a Brexit Party campaign rally to stop selling milkshakes and ice cream, according to the restaurant's staff. We're selling milkshakes all weekend. A clip that went viral this month showed a young man of Asian descent splashing Robinson in the face with a McDonald's drink in response to something the far-right leader said.

Other right-wing candidates have also been pelted with milkshakes during the election campaign.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Sky said: "We are investigating the incident but can not comment further at this stage".

Mr Farage, one of the leading figures in the campaign for Britain to leave the European Union, was covered in the milkshake at an event in the northern England city of Newcastle on Monday. "For a civilised democracy to work you need the losers' consent, politicians not accepting the referendum result have led us to this". He had not planned the protest, but after buying the milkshake and seeing Farage nearby on an unannounced campaign visit, he saw the occasion his "only chance [to] protest". Prime Minister Scoo Morrison was hit on the head with an egg - although on this occasion it failed to crack.
