Holly Willoughby describes Jeremy Kyle Show axing as a 'terrible shock'

Jeremy Kyle

The pre-recorded episode Mr Dymond took part in was based on the subject of infidelity.

'And also to The Jeremy Kyle team and crew as this has been a awful shock'.

A TVNZ spokesperson says it was speaking to ITV about the upsetting incident, and won't screen the episode in question, but it plans to continue broadcasting episodes that have already been approved for broadcast.

McCall said the investigation into the episode is "under way and will continue".

Rachel Roberts, 31, from Dereham, went on The Jeremy Kyle show in 2016 as a last ditch attempt to get the father of her daughter to give up drugs. "Presumably, that was at the point when they announced the lie detector result".

Steve Dymond's body was found on May 9 at a home in Portsmouth, and according to The Sun, he had been dead a "number of days" before being discovered. Steve Dymond apparently died of an overdose a week after failing the test in the studio, and the show has now been indefinitely taken off air.

"Given the gravity of recent events we have chose to end production of The Jeremy Kyle Show", said ITV chief executive Dame Carolyn McCall.

Hampshire Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner. The Prime Minister's office said Dymond's death was "deeply concerning", and lawmaker Charles Walker said participants in the show were "not really guests, they're victims".

"Broadcasters and production companies have a responsibility for the mental health and wellbeing of participants and viewers of their programmes".

"This decision is not in any way a reflection on the show, but the best way we think we can protect the show and the production team from this reaction we expect to this death", she continued.

And in February, Mr Dymond had been due to attend a hearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court for the non-payment of a fine of £4,329.

All previous episodes have been taken down from the channel's catch-up service, ITV Hub.

It faced fierce criticism about its style and levels of aftercare in the wake of the news, with the United Kingdom prime minister's office calling the case "deeply concerning".

The broadcaster said it would also no longer be "reliant on the islanders asking us for support but for us to proactively check in with them on a regular basis".

Holly Willoughby has spoken out about The Jeremy Kyle Show being axed, describing it as a "terrible shock".

A review of the episode featuring Dymond is also being carried out.
