Constance Wu Clarifies Comments Following 'Fresh Off The Boat' Renewal: 'Stop Assuming'

American Housewife Bless This Mess

Constance Wu has insisted she's grateful for the renewal of her TV show Fresh Off The Boat after appearing to be upset about the news on Twitter.

"So upset right now that I'm literally crying", wrote Wu. She even responded to a supporting fan congratulating her on the "good news" by writing, "No, it's not". "Plz (please) know, Im so grateful for FOTB renewal".

However, fans have been very vocal about Wu's reaction on social media, many seeing her as being "ungrateful" for having a TV job on a day when many series were axed.

Less than an hour after her original tweets, Wu clarified on Twitter, denying that her strong emotions were caused by the renewal.

"I was temporarily upset yesterday not bc I hate the show but bc its renewal meant I had to give up another project that I was really passionate about", she began. "So my dismayed social media replies were more about that other project not about 'FOTB'". "I was disappointed in not being able to do that other project - because that other project would have challenged me as an artist".

Her tweet has since been deleted, People reported. I hope you believe me. Wu will also appear in the upcoming crime comedy Hustlers opposite Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B, and many more.

But apparently it really was Wu behind the tweets as she not only left up the first to posts, but she also walked back her earlier statements in some follow-up posts.

She tried to clean up the mess by tweeting, "That was not a rampage, it was just how I normally talk". Which makes it all quite enjoyable - so obviously I don't dislike doing a show that is fun and easy and pleasant.

"I said I was upset and crying". I say fuck a lot. "Stop assuming", she stated to her followers, before sending another Tweet expressing her love for the cast and crew, as well as revealing she is thrilled to continue with FOTB. "Cultural differences still present everyday challenges, but close friends, neighbors and business partners are there to help them navigate the complexities of raising a family of future Millennials", states the description on the show's website.

"But if one does have privilege, they ought to use that privilege as best they can", she adds.
