You Can Share Your Smartphone's Screen During Video Calls

Mobile screen-sharing might come to Skype soon

For example, you could load up a PowerPoint presentation, share the screen, and swipe through the slides while you talk about the content. Microsoft made it clear Apple's mobile OS would support the feature, so it's probably just a matter of time rather than anything serious.

But The Verge says that despite being part of the Skype Insider programme, they weren't able to spot the feature yet.

Skype won't be the first of such apps to implement screen sharing among users. Unfortunately, most devices don't have a built-in screen sharing option, and only a handful of messaging apps let you do that seamlessly.

The Screen Sharing feature is now included in the Skype Beta app for the iOS devices.

After increasing the limit of video call participants, Skype is now testing a feature that will allow you to share your mobile screen during calls. If Skype's other experiments are anything to go by, screen sharing could roll out in less than a month.

Users can start a broadcast by using the Control Center screen recording button, or from inside the Skype app.

Skype is likely envisioning this feature to be more useful for its business consumers, who may not want to make the switch to Skype for Business, especially as rival apps like Cisco WebEx, Zoom and GoTo Meeting sport a similar functionality, but aren't as user-friendly or ubiquitous as Skype is. The feature will be able to blur the background while on a video call with your contacts on Skype. Starting today, Skype has you covered. The feature is definitely promising and very useful so we can expect it to see it on the stable version soon.
