Not drinking water: Drinkwater... charged with drink driving

Drinkwater won the Premier League title with Leicester

Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater has reportedly been arrested on suspected drink driving offences after crashing his auto in the early hours of Monday morning.

Mr Drinkwater has, however, been released on unconditional bail to appear at Stockport Magistrates' Court on 13 May.

Players who were not involved in the game at Stamford Bridge on Monday night were called in to train and Drinkwater was spotted being put through his paces.

A police spokesman said the player was arrested "following a one-vehicle incident" in Ashley Road, Mere.

A Cheshire police spokesperson has released a statement on the matter (via The Mirror), confirming that Drinkwater is set to appear in court next month.

The Sun report that the Drinkwater had been at a party in Cheshire in the early hours of Monday morning, before he left and was involved in a traffic incident with another auto.

The crash - which has been described by a source as "really nasty" - occurred six miles away from the Chelsea midfielder's home in Hale, Greater Manchester.

But Drinkwater has struggled to lock down a regular role with the Blues and has not made a competitive appearance in 13 months.

The crash happened just hours before Chelsea's 2-0 win over West Ham.

The midfielder won the last of his three England caps in 2016.

Drinkwater is enduring a hard time at Chelsea, as he is yet to make a single Premier League appearance this season under Maurizio Sarri.
