Huawei May Consider Selling 5G Technology to Apple

Apple's iPhone 2020 may have 5G trouble, but Huawei is eager to help

Having said that, Fast Company's latest report claims that neither of those companies will be in a position to supply a 5G modem in 2020 either, with both the site's source and UBS analyst Timothy Arcuri saying as much.

Engadget have reported that Huawei are open to selling their processors and modem chips to Apple. It's 5G-ready XMM 8160 modems would be available for its customers in the second half of 2019.

There could be an unlikely victor in the Apple vs Qualcomm kerfuffle and Intel's inability to prepare its 5G chips. Therefore, we are not sure if Apple would want to team up with Huawei. This is surprising given that chipset sales is not Huawei's forte and the company's executive had previously said that the Huawei chipsets are for its own internal products such as phones and IoT devices. While collaborating with Huawei might seem hard at the moment, doing so might help the company in terms of compatibility with China's 5G networks.

At current, Intel is Apple's major supplier of modems.

The relationship between Huawei and Apple is strained, and the Chinese company are embroiled in tensions with the government.

Apple hasn't shied away from tangling with the USA government before, but it could walk into a publicity nightmare with Huawei's modem. If only to help Apple to ship out a 5G-capable iPhone within the next couple of years. Apple's legal tussle with Qualcomm has negated any possibility of collaboration, while Samsung's 5G technology is hardly compatible with United States carriers. So even if Intel is struggling to hit its deadlines, Apple might be able to fall back on another supplier. Why This Plan Is Impossible To call Huawei a potential partner for Apple is probably one of the most controversial statements in the tech world.

Apple has also reportedly hired over a thousand RF engineers from Qualcomm and Intel to work on modems for future iPhones, so it may not be a big surprise if the company delays its 5G iPhone until it has its own 5G modem ready. In addition to the fact that it would pay an opponent, it could likewise create issues with the USA government.
