Gronkowski dented Lombardi trophy after using it as baseball bat, video shows

Rob Gronkowski's shows a big smile that is almost as large as the dent he left in the Super Bowl trophy

Rob Gronkowski is no longer a member of the New England Patriots, as he retired last month, though he did leave a lasting impression on the franchise... as well as it's sixth Lombardi Trophy.

"Gronkowski's parting gift", McCourty said. A baseball-sized dent. That came courtesy of Gronk, who had a little too much fun with the trophy when the Patriots were honored at Fenway Park at the Red Sox home opener last week.

"Gronk thought of a great idea".

"No way is he going to swing the Lombardi trophy".

The Patriots posted a video to their Twitter account on Wednesday showing a huge dent in their brand new championship trophy, earned from their victory over the Los Angeles Rams at Super Bowl LIII in February. "He would never hit the ball with that, '" Patriots special teams ace Matthew Slater recalled to the team's website. He also left a lasting mark on their latest Lombardi Trophy in a way that only Gronk could.

Executive vice president of media relations Stacey James told ESPN that the team will "keep the dent and tell the story" for now, although it could be fixed in the future.

"We're thinking, 'He's not going to swing the bat".

Defensive back Duron Harmon said that if "anybody could do it and get away with it, it'd be Mr. Gronkowski himself".

That's why fans were disappointed when Gronk announced his retirement from football after just nine seasons.
