Google's affordable Pixel 3a smartphones make appearance on Google Store

Counterpoint Research

The brand has time and again promised and managed to deliver great products. The Counterpoint Research numbers show that, while it's not insignificant that Google is succeeding in convincing many smartphone owners to switch over to the Pixel, the fact that most are former Samsung owners means that Google isn't winning many new fans for the Pixel from outside the Android ecosystem.

Google's upcoming Pixel 3 and 3a XL may be the more expected phones at the moment but the Pixel 4 duo are by far the more important devices.

The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL case renders have revealed two important aspects of both smartphones. Additionally, Google will need to improve the design if we look at Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Now, recently case renders of both these smartphones were leaked online. But there are a few noticeable changes too. As per them, the devices will sport a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top edge and a USB-C port at the bottom, which is flanked by speaker grilles on either side. Do note that there's only one selfie shooter given up front, compared to the dual front shooters on the Pixel 3 duo. Pricing is said to reach as low as $300 for the Pixel 3a and $350 for the Pixel 3a XL, although it is unknown whether this estimation is based on conversion of local currency, expected retail value or the value of shipment. Other leaks also convey that 3a XL variant comes with an additional Wide angle camera like the Pixel 3. As per latest reports, the device shall be announced officially by Samsung as Galaxy A80. The cases suggest that both the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 3a XL will come with a similar design module. The Coral codename is already in use in the Google app code, and it was previously associated with the Pixel 4. Actually, media reports that the site also showed references to the earlier-leaked Nest Hub as well as Nest Hub Max, before it was removed. The device in that benchmark was reported to have a Snapdragon 855 SoC and 6GB of RAM, which would resolve one of the primary complaints people had about the Pixel 3's specs.
