Google, Huawei to Pay $10 Million Over Faulty Nexus 6P Phones

Google, Huawei Agree to Pay Nexus 6P Owners Up to $400 for Faulty...

Anyone who purchased a Nexus 6P in the USA between September 29, 2015 and the soon-to-be-announced settlement approval date is eligible for compensation, but its value will be determined by a number of factors. For the record, Google had third parties manufacture Nexus devices, one of which is Huawei.

This is yet another class action lawsuit on the Android-related devices.

For the record, Google and Huawei are still denying the Nexus 6P was inherently defective, and those who accept the settlement are in effect waiving their rights to lodge any case against the two companies concerning these claims in the future. The battery drain issue refers to the device spontaneously shutting down.

The class action lawsuit dates back to 2017, when consumers complained of two annoying issues. Google and Huawei have not admitted fault.

Google and Huawei have preliminarily agreed to settle a class action lawsuit from Nexus 6P users who say their devices experienced a bootlooping issue that caused the phones to shut down randomly, regardless of the battery level. That's merely a formality, though, which will be followed by the publication of a dedicated website where you'll be able to make a claim.

Don't worry even though, if you don't have proper documentation but if you claim to have these issues then still you will get $75 from the settlement.

Before Google started "making" Pixel phones in 2016 (with discreet help from actual manufacturers like HTC), there was the Nexus program, under which the search giant offered companies like Huawei or LG way more exposure for producing powerful but affordable devices running stock Android software.

The settlement is all depending on the court for the approval, but it seems that it's going to happen anytime soon. Users who received a Pixel XL against their Nexus 6P in a prior warranty exchange programme would be eligible to receive up to $10 (roughly Rs. 700), while the ones who experienced the alleged bootloop and submit documentation of the issue would get up to $325 (roughly Rs. 22,500). By submitting both the proofs you can avail $400 settlement.
