Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram down for users globally

Facebook and its allied services WhatsApp and Instagram were down for users around the world on Sunday. "Not good for those who do social media work, like me".

At the time of writing, independent outage monitor Down Detector has registered almost 5,000 reports from users insisting WhatsApp is experiencing an outage. As per the outage map, most reports have come in from Europe.

According to traffic-monitoring website DownDetector, Facebook was the first to encounter problems at around 3:28pm [PST], followed by Instagram at 3:33pm and WhatsApp at 3:58pm. The USA, India, Malaysia, Thailand, and South-American countries are also having problems with social networking apps and website.

One of the users joked tweeting, "Here we go again".

Popular social media apps Facebook and Instagram are down for an extended period of time for the second time in a month.
