Trump Says Feds Will Review the Jussie Smollett Case

President Donald Trump speaks to media before boarding Air Force One in West Palm Beach Fla

Trump's tweet comes just two days after prosecutors formally dropped charges against Smollett, who on March 8 was indicted on multiple felony counts for the alleged staging of a hate crime against himself in January.

Glandian argued that Smollett would not have recognized the brothers, but did not bring up something she said on the Today show on Thursday morning.

He also revealed that he would be sending Smollett a bill to recoup some of the money spent on the investigation into the allegedly staged attack and that the city's lawyers were in the process of totaling up the final cost.

"Through the repeated misleading and deceptive statements to the public on IL law and circumstances surrounding the Smollett dismissal, the State's Attorney has failed in her most fundamental ethical obligations to the public", the state group said.

But the prosecutor, who left the case in the hands of a colleague after recusing herself because she'd had contact with one of Smollett's relatives, said Smollett received no special treatment.

The FBI and Department of Justice declined to comment when asked about the president's tweet, according to CNN.

The charges against Jussie were dropped this week as prosecutors believed he would only receive community service time as a punishment and he has already completed enough community service.

"There's-obviously, you can disguise-you can put makeup on", Glandian said.

"You know, I think police had minimal investigation in this case, it took me all of five minutes to Google. How about Chicago? He said he was attacked by MAGA country", Trump added, referring to Smollett's apparent attackers who he claimed yelled the phrase at him.

Actor Jussie Smollett's attorney suggested the Osundairo brothers, two Nigerian men who claim Smollett hired them to stage a hate crime, may have been wearing "whiteface" during the incident.

In return, prosecutors said, the actor agreed to let the city keep his $10,000 in bail. But lawyers for major news outlets, including The Associated Press, told the judge the case hasn't been transparent.

"The public is entitled to know what happened and what's happening in this proceeding", media attorney Natalie Spears argued.

Emanuel has condemned the state's attorney for her handling of the case.

On Wednesday, the ex-chief of staff for former first lady Michelle Obama said she approached Foxx regarding the case on behalf of the actor's family.

And Republican State Representative Michael McAuliffe released a statement on Tuesday announcing plans to introduce legislation this week to prohibit any production with Smollett from receiving the Illinois Film Tax Credits. Foxx told the Sun-Times the relative expressed concerns over leaked information.

Federal authorities should also investigate Kim Foxx.
