The Sinking City Gets New Release Date for Good Reason

The Sinking City release date has been moved to June

With so many games that are coming out this March, they want to make sure that people will notice their game and would rather release it to months where game releases are slow. For this reason, the developers over at Frogwares has made a decision to push the release date back ever so slightly so that it's in a less crowded time-frame. June is less crowded, so Frogwares believes it's a flawless time to put The Sinking City out to fans.

We can understand Frogwares' desire to give its game some breathing room against those highly anticipated titles, but to announce a push back two weeks prior to the date seems a little odd in our opinion. Quite how much it leans into "and then there are Cthulhus and you're a mentalist and it's time to shoot elder gods" remains to be seen, but I hope not.

Frogwares also says that it will use the extra time to optimise and polish the game so that it's even better for players when it eventually does release.

An oppressive atmosphere and story inspired by the universe of H.P. Lovecraft.

The Sinking City takes place in the damp, misty 1920s town of Oakmont, Massachusetts, where you play a beleaguered war veteran turned private eye who travels to the town in search of a cure for his creeping insanity.

There are no objectives on the map or straightforward quests.

The game will release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on June 27, and it appears to promise no shortage of deranged cultists, supernatural horror, and other Cthulu-esque themes.
